Course Overview:

Participants will gain a better understanding of this and related theories along with practical ways to become more effective in working with those who have experienced trauma. Whether you're a professional navigating complex interactions or an individual seeking deeper understanding, this presentation equips you with invaluable insights to decode human behavior and enhance your interpersonal effectiveness. About the Presenter:

Monica Borunda is a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She is also an adjunct professor at Cal State Los Angeles, and a Child Forensic Interview Specialist and Parent Educator. She is also a trainer, consultant, and expert witness on topics of trauma, child abuse, and child forensic interviewing. In addition, Monica sees children, adults, and families in private practice in the city of Pasadena. 

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify two examples of adaptive survival responses driven by the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) in different scenarios.

  2. Explain three characteristic response patterns of the ANS and demonstrate understanding of how the ANS functions below conscious awareness in assessing safety and risk.

  3. Acquire two practical strategies for fostering safety and connection in relationships to improve co-regulation and resilience.
